Dr. Shamarah J. Hutchins is a distinguished leader in the field of mental health, known for her resilience, academic excellence, and commitment to community service. Raised by her maternal grandmother, Dr. Hutchins' personal experiences with her parents' struggles with chemical dependency fueled her passion to combat substance abuse. Defying statistical odds, she excelled academically, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Wilberforce University, where she also shone as a collegiate athlete.
Dr. Hutchins holds a Master’s in Psychology from Capella University and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Walden University. She is a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC) specializing in substance use therapy and serves as a College Professor. Her dedication to mental health extends beyond the classroom; she has contributed to numerous advisory boards, including the Warrensville Developmental Center and The TJ Carrie Foundation, where she chairs programming.
